- Staying Home when:
- All participants and staff/volunteers will be educated regarding the following health and safety strategies:
- Hand Hygiene and Respiratory Etiquette:
- Diligent handwashing is required with soap and water for at least 20 seconds and will be monitored for adherence.
- In areas where soap and water are not readily available, hand sanitizer that contains at least 60% alcohol can be used (for staff/volunteers and older children who can safely use hand sanitizer).
- Always cover coughs and sneezes with a tissue. Used tissues should be thrown in the trash and hand hygiene must be performed immediately.

- Face coverings will be strongly encouraged for participants and staff/volunteers, unless contraindicated by a medical condition. Participants and staff/volunteers must provide their own face covering and should follow CDC guidelines for proper use, removal, and washing.
- Daily health checks will be conducted (e.g., temperature screening and/or symptom checking) for staff/volunteers and participants in accordance with any applicable privacy laws and regulations. Daily health checks may be performed at the facility/Outdoor Park or participants and staff/volunteers may be asked to self-report.
- Adequate supplies will be provided, including soap, water, and hand sanitizer with at least 60 percent alcohol (for staff/volunteers and older participants who can safely use hand sanitizer), paper towels, tissues, disinfectant wipes, and no-touch/foot pedal trashcans.
- Signs and messages will be postedin highly visible locations (e.g., facility entrances, restrooms) that promote everyday protective measures and describe how to stop the spread of germs with proper hand hygiene and other CDC recommendations.
- Frequently touched surfaces will be cleaned and disinfected (e.g., Outdoor Park equipment, door handles, sink handles, drinking fountains) at least daily or between each use as much as possible. Shared objects will be cleaned between each use. Cleaners will be stored safely and correctly and out of the reach of children.
- Gloves must be used when removing garbage bags or handling and disposing of trash. Hands must be washed after removing gloves.
- Each participant’s belongings will be stored separately from others’ and in individually labeled lockers or areas.
- Circulation of outdoor air will be increased as much as possible by opening windows and doors.
- Drinking fountains will be cleaned and sanitized, but participants and staff/volunteers are encouraged to bring their own water to minimize use and touching of water fountains.
- Participants will be asked to maintain 6’ of space between one another and staff/volunteers will enforce social distancing.
- When serving nutritional drinks/shakes, disposable food service items (utensils, dishes) will be used. Individuals must wash their hands before and after handling food service items.
- The Program Administrator (Dominic Cino) will be responsible for responding to COVID-19 concerns. All participants and staff/volunteers should know who Dominic is and how to contact him.
- In the event of a suspected exposure or illness:
- All staff/volunteers and participants and their families will be made aware that they or their children should not come to the facility, and that they should notify the Program Administrator if they (staff) or their child (families) become sick with COVID-19 symptoms, test positive for COVID-19, or have been exposed to someone with symptoms or a confirmed or suspected case.
- Staff/volunteers and participants with COVID-19 symptoms (such as fever, cough, or shortness of breath) will be separated immediately at the facility/Outdoor Park. Individuals who are sick should go home and will be advised to seek the advice of a licensed medical provider. If symptoms appear severe, 911 will be called and the Communication Center will be notified that the individual has COVID-19 symptoms. Anyone who cares for the sick individual before they leave the facility should wear gloves and a medical-grade mask and perform thorough hand hygiene when the encounter ends.
- Areas will be closed off that were used by a sick person and will not be available for use until they are cleaned and disinfected (for outdoor areas, this includes surfaces or shared objects in the area, if applicable). At least 24 hours will elapse before cleaning and disinfecting.
- In accordance with state and local laws and regulations, the Program Administrator will notify staff/volunteers, participants and families immediately of any case of COVID-19 while maintaining confidentiality in accordance with the Americans with Disabilities Act.
